Amazing Dalkey Island - Team event from last year!

We visited Dalkey Island near Dublin in 2019. It lies off the coast of Dalkey Village. Easy to access by ferry from Bulloch Harbour. Just make sure to catch the last ferry back to the harbour! Otherwise you are stranded there as it happened to us.

It is a beautiful place with diverse wildlife and interesting history. You can find rabbits, feral goats, seals and many birds there. The rabbits will only come out from their den if you don't move. Just freeze for 1 minute and you will see many rabbits popping out of their rabbit holes. Some of the birds are hunting around the shore. Others are nesting on the island itself. Once I spotted a huge prawn in the water just in front of the shore, so don't forget to observe the water as well!

Some parts of the island are closed to the public. It provides safe space to nature and their inhabitants. Nesting birds should be respected to make sure they come again next year. https://www.youtube.com/embed/0_EkIzqw7NY

Amazing Dalkey Island - Team Event - Part 1

Dalkey island has some interesting ruins to explore. One of them seems to be the night shelter of the feral goats. The highest peak is the martello tower. Many things have happened in this area. For example, the remainings of the 'Muglin Pirates' were brought to the Muglin rocks. You can see the rocks on the scene with the lighthouse.

The scenery around the island is stunning. The coastline in front of Dalkey village has many mansions of VIPs. You can see Howth peninsular (another majestic natural site) to the north. Shown on the scene with the big ferry boat. To the south you can see the start of the Wicklow Mountains.
